The engineers at Shoei should be praised for their design work on the Neotec modular helmet. The Neotec appeals to the sport and adventuring touring crowds thanks to its versatility and modular accessibility. The lightweight chin bar rotates smoothly along with the shield on a single axis point, converting this full face helmet into an open face helmet. This feature is incredibly handy when you are paying for gas, enjoying your coffee, or mapping out your route for the long trip back home. The vents and enlarged lock release button are all glove friendly and conveniently located.
The Neotec’s drop down internal sunshield offers riders instant relief from the glaring sun thanks to the handy shield retraction button on the left side of the helmet. The smoke sun shield also includes an anti-fog and scratch technology and is replaceable. The helmets takes a CNS-1 face shield, which features a wider & taller field of vision compared to Shoei’s previous CX-1V shield, and includes an easy to install clear Pinlock Anti-fog lens. the CNS-1 shield is also injection-molded which warrants a distortion-free, 3D view while also offering protection against 99% of the suns harmful UV rays.
The Neotec’s aerodynamic design and ventilation system are compliments of Shoei’s very own state-of-the-art full size factory wind tunnel. The spoiler on the Neotec is integrated right into the shell’s construction, which helps with lift and drag. The dual-layer EPS liner provides enhanced impact absorption thanks to varying densities of foam, which was also constructed to allow cool air to flow through the generous vent tunnels they have created throughout the EPS. Unwanted road noise is minimized by multi-layered removable and washable interior cheek pads and comfort liner, while the helmets dual-ridge window beading, breath guard, and chin curtain all help to seal out the elements and road debris. All of these features combined to make the Neotec a generous step up from Shoei’s Multitec modular helmet.
Shoei’s goal was to create an optimal modular helmet. With its AIM shell construction, DOT approval, communication system readiness, and optional 3-shell sizes, they have definitely reached this achievement.
Thanks to the success of the Neotec, Shoei has expanded their family of internal sun shield helmets and now offers the full-face GT-Air and open-face J-Cruise, in addition to the modular Neotec. All Shoei helmets are backed with a 5-year warranty.
